Pickleball Pursuit's 2026 Paddle of the Year
Spartus Spitfire Elongated Pickleball Paddle is a pickleball paddle designed for players who want an accessible blend of power, spin and control in an elongated shape. The extended profile provides extra reach and leverage on groundstrokes, while the full-foam construction delivers a larger sweet spot with a softer, more controlled response. The textured carbon fibre face is engineered to generate consistent spin, making it easier to shape serves, drives and third-shot drops with confidence.
Its lightweight design keeps the paddle quick through the air for faster hand speed at the net, while the elongated handle offers added comfort for two-handed backhands. The Spitfire is an excellent option for improving and competitive players looking for premium performance without the premium price.

Staff Pro Review: Rory Peters
The Spitfire Elongated impressed us with its balanced feel and easy access to spin. It offered enough power for aggressive baseline play while remaining forgiving around the kitchen thanks to its softer foam construction. Players moving from traditional polypropylene paddles will appreciate the larger sweet spot and comfortable feel without sacrificing manoeuvrability. Its price tag belies the impressive performance and hard wearing spin capability. This is the one to go for if you need spin, power and control in a reasonably priced paddle.

Elongated-shaped pickleball paddles are generally power-focused. These are designed for aggressive players who put more force behind attacking shots and react quickly during fast volleys. The elongated shape provides additional reach and leverage to help generate greater power.
Standard and Hybrid shape pickleball paddles are usually all-round focused. These are designed for players seeking a versatile balance between power and control, making them suitable for a wide range of playing styles and providing a balanced combination of reach, manoeuvrability, touch and attacking potential.
Widebody-shaped pickleball paddles are control-focused. These are designed for players who prioritise precision, placement and touch. They are generally widebody-shaped, providing a larger and more forgiving hitting area for players who rely on accurate shot-making, resets and strategic play while still being able to generate power when required.
