Get your kids the right shoes for badminton. Too often parents "make do" with any old trainers for badminton. It is important to realise that running shoes provide NO grip whatsoever on indoor surfaces apart from no allowing the feet to move laterally far too much. The GUM sole is what is needed, plus support to stop the foot moving too much sideways, which leads to sprained ankles. We often also get asked if tennis shoes are suitable for badminton... again they are not ideal as they are heavier and "more solid" than badminton shoes, with just about adequate grip and support. Proper badminton shoes give proper grip and support for front, sideways, jumping and landing motions that are necessary for badminton.
